Joy in WHAT? - THE SOLUTION

I had an apostrophe. Lightning has just struck my brain. Okay, I had an epiphany. There was no lightning. It was during one of my frequent scripture study sessions with my baby bro. We study the discussions out of the Preach My Gospel manual, and the topic for the day was the Priesthood and Auxiliaries. I pulled out my handy dandy True to the Faith book, and looked up Relief Society. The main reference was the Relief Society Declaration - which is like our Young Women's Theme, right? As a quick refresher, here it is: We are beloved spirit daughters of God, and our lives have meaning, purpose, and direction. As a worldwide sisterhood, we are united in our devotion to Jesus Christ, our Savior and Exemplar. We are women of faith, virtue, vision, and charity who: -Increase our testimonies of Jesus Christ through prayer and scripture study. -Seek spiritual strength by following the promptings of the Holy Ghost. -Dedicate ourselves to strengthening marriages, families, and hom...

Grocery Shopping

Andrew and I have talked lately about how we are making so much more money that even just 2 years ago, and how we should see that somewhere, but because of expenses going up, and inflation, there is no more "extra" money than there was before. It seems like there ought to be something that can be done about that. While we can't cut our car payments, or utilities, we thought maybe we could do something about our grocery budget. I was hunting for ideas on saving on groceries, and discovered that we already spent way less than the "average" family of 4. I've taken classes on couponing, which I consider to be a hobby, almost a sport. I have seen it work wonders for some people. But it's not for us. I don't want to run to town all the time, I try to only go into town once a week. I don't want to pay to get 5 copies of the sunday paper. We are not flexible on a lot of personal care/cleaning items, and I already go cheap-o on as many as possible. We r...

I Don't Wanna Talk About It

I promised pictures of Nate's completed room. It may be months before I am able to post them. The painting of the wall was all but finished, all we needed was the clear coat of Polycrylic by Minwax. It did not dry clear. Because I rolled it onto the wall, and because the wall was bumpy, it dried with little foamy bubbles all over, making it look like there is a layer of contact paper on the whole wall. The bright colors, and crystal clear edges are now fuzzy and muted. Rather than looking like it took Heather and I months of work, it looks like we slapped a poorly printed picture up there. To say that there were tears, discouragement, nausea, and frustration is an understatement. Devastation comes closer. After a week of not being able to look at it, and another week of being afraid to experiment, I have concluded that I (we) will have to sand the bottom 2/3rds of the wall with 220 grit sandpaper to remove the bubbles, carefully repaint with 2 coats, and then with a small fi...
