2016 Highlights

Highlights from the year, and a few posts from Facebook -

2/2016
We put our first home on the market, with hopes of a better neighborhood and being closer to Andrew's work

2/29/16
My sweet Andrew is working day shifts Monday and Tuesday. If you need me I'll be going back to bed after the kids leave, vacuuming, cleaning my bathroom, changing my sheets, practicing the piano and my choir music, doing the dishes while dancing and singing loudly, getting showered and doing my hair in my own bathroom, and opening and closing the garage door a million times just for fun.
Ah, the things you other stay at home moms take for granted!

4/2016
Fell in love with a new Author, Julie Klassen, and read every one of her books over a two week period

5/2016
Sold our house, bought a new one, and moved in right near Andrew's Birthday. We were SO excited!

Also - Another Choralaires concert - one of the few with Janna, Mom, Heather, and me.

I feel like I'm trying to sleep in the zoo. Molly must have known it is her birthday because at 1:30am she was bounding around the house wanting food and to play. Nate is awake coughing, the tail end of the cold he's had. Emmy is talking in her sleep. I'm now wide awake. And Andrew...snoring peacefully.

We spent a lovely week in Midway, Utah with Andrew's family. It was nice to take a break from moving, and nice when we got back to feel refreshed to jump back into unpacking.

7/31/16
What a wild and fun weekend! 100 sheets of drywall purchased and unloaded, Annual get-together with Sarah Hollinger, first lunch in 20 years with JeNae, Storm Camp prep with the Southwicks and Bowmans, and a new job teaching 4 year olds at church.
We're so blessed to have great friends, family, and modern technology to stay connected.

8/2016
First year we all went to Storm Camp Together

Back to School - Emmy started 2nd grade and Nate started 6th grade - his last year of Elementary School. New house means new school and new friends.

We started hanging drywall - Spoiler alert - we were terrible at it, and eventually hired someone to finish hanging, and mud/taped it all.

A pep talk to myself, and others may benefit: It doesn't take a bad day to be near the end of your rope by bedtime. Sometimes a regular day ends with mommy biting her tongue and counting in her head so she doesn't rip somebody else's head off. Sometimes, even though you didn't work hard during the day, by 9:30 you just want all the people, and the dishes, and the to-do lists, and that floppy piece of hair that's tickling your ear, to go away. Sometimes at 9:00 you are ready to tackle a project or be productive, but by 9:13 you've been pushed just past a breaking point and all you can do is call it a day. Sometimes it's not anyone or anything's fault that you are just DONE.

It's OK. Be done. Call it a day. You aren't a whiner or a quitter. Tackle the dishes and projects in the morning. Smother the kids with kisses when you wake them if you could just barely avoid whacking them at bed time. Tomorrow is a new day. Life is good.

I guess what I'm trying to say is it's ok to just feel worn out sometimes, even if you feel like its for no reason. Feeling grumpy or tired or whiny doesn't mean you aren't happy and appreciating your life. Don't feel guilty. It's all part of life. And it's OK!

Massive blizzards for Christmas, zero visibility, major drifting - Church canceled. It was beautiful!
