I've wanted to record this for a while, but it was a pretty special birthday, and I didn't want to just rattle off a play-by-play without expressing how much everyone's part meant to me.
When I woke up the kids were extra good and nice and helpful. Nate didn't have school, because it was Thanksgiving break. Andrew worked the night before so he came home, and went to bed. I had just gotten my new Mormon Mom Planner, and wanted to go show it to Mom, so I asked her if I could some over. She asked me to wait a little while. She and Janna had something for me, and needed a little bit to get it ready.
When I got there, on the floor in the family room, there were 31 gift bags. Inside each of 30 bags was one of my favorite things. Cinnamon gum, new jammies, a journal, post it notes, some sheet music for Pitch perfect music... I have the whole list saved elsewhere, but the point is that it was VERY thoughtful. It was more gifts, and more THOUGHTFUL gifts than I have ever received at one time (and probably ever will!). The final bag held a whole bunch of paper - they were notes, thoughts, and cards from some of the dearest people in my life. They are absolutely cherished, I love them. I may have mentioned that my love language is "words of affirmation" - and that's what these were. I love them, the beautiful memories, and way-too-flattering compliments. Thank you, loved ones!!!!
Then it was lunch time, and mom fed us yummy chicken chipotle sandwiches, Mom, Janna and I played Ticket to Ride. Love it!!
About the time we finished, Andrew appeared at Mom's house, ready to take me out. We went to the Trackside Mall, a giant antiques/misc stuff store. We had a grand time meandering through. We stopped at Freddies on the way home for some finger-foods for dinner: chicken strips, stuffed tater skins, curly fries, mozzerella sticks....you know, don't judge. It was fun, and very little mess!!! We watched a movie, I think it was an ABC family christmas movie, and then called it a day. And what a day!!!
A few weeks later, exactly halfway between my birthday and Heather's birthday, she and I celebrated our 30th birthdays and 15th anniversary of best-friendship (That's half our life...CRAZY, no?). We had lunch at Ruzios (YUM!!!!!), spent HOURS at The Noble House of Barnes, went to Austenland, and then dinner at Olive Garden, all completely unrushed and unbothered. It was SO lovely!!!!
That's all. Just the Best. Birthday. EVER.
