This last Saturday (May 16) Maren and I got out and started planting our shrubs and Trees in our yard. We got four trees planted and nine shrubs planted. Maren planted the the other tree and seven other shrubs the day before. Nathan even got into the action by breaking up the dirt clods for us.
We also have started putting grass seed down. Maren has decided that she wanted to do small patches of grass so she doesn't get overwhelmed with getting the grass to grow. We have got two spots going and Maren wants two get two more started soon.
Maren and I are totally stoked with how the yard is going. We keep saying that we're not interested in trying to compete with the neighbors, and we're not, but it sure is nice that our neighbors have suddenly decided that they want to get their own yards started. Seriously, its not about keeping up or being ahead of the "Jones" but its great knowing that all the neighbors are interested in making their houses look nice too. We were so afraid that none of them were going to be interested and if we ever decided to sell, we would never be able to because nobody would want to buy because all the houses around us nasty looking. Its great to have good neighbors who are so open and willing to help and work.
