Hey, Where's 2015?

I took the year off of blogging. Not intentionally. Why? Let's be honest. It was like 80% Laziness, and 20% Other Worthless Excuses (nothing happening, etc). The year was fairly uneventful. Very little changed. I'm okay with that. Not every year needs to be an emotional roller coaster. Early in the year my maternal grandmother had the flu and a health decline and ended up first in the hospital, and then moved to an assisted living apartment instead of going back to her own place. It was a good move for her, she needed it, but it was an EXTREMELY stressful time for my mom, and then for me as I helped mom. Now she's still kicking, perhaps even thriving, in true Thelma fashion (much to my poor mom's dismay). Andrew is still  working at the Hospital, and loving it. He is on several committees and now often works as a charge nurse. He still loves working nights, and I am great with it as long as his schedule stays pretty regular. He's also still training in Martia...

Today's Little Ah-Ha Moment

I love AhHa moments: I am a planner. I plan and plan, list, design, organize, dream...But rarely carry out my plans. I always end up feeling like once I get my plan out of my head, It's gone, and I feel no more pressure to do something about it. And because of the kind of person I am, I feel guilt over all of my abandoned idea babies, just not enough to pick them back up. Today, in my research (and planning and designing and listmaking) on resolutions, I came across this on Oprah's website:     "April 22: Start a garden journal. Plot out your veggies and flowers. List the tools you need to purchase. Draw your fantasy layout in colored pencil. Press inspirational flowers between the pages (using a heavy dictionary). And should you happen to forget to plant anything at all, consider this notebook your celebration of spring." And suddenly (AhHa!) I don't feel bad about my billions of "dream homes" I've designed, and put in a stack, or the busine...

Second Half of the Year

Well - My blogging goal this year did NOT go well. Life goes on,and so will my blogging. Here's what we've been up to since I the last time I blogged: Andrew's Storm Camp went well, he enjoyed his time away and we had a blast, but everyone was glad when it was over. Andrew has continued with his Tae Kwon Do, and just recently advanced to his blue belt. He loves it and we love cheering him on. I had an appointment in August with a plastic surgeon to talk about a reduction to help with my back pain. Insurance approved it as medically necessary, but even with insurance it was still a $3000-$4000 project, and put on a back burner, for some day down the road. Em started Kindergarten and Nate started 4th grade. I have no idea how that happened. Weren't they just babies? Nate is thriving in his class. This is the first year he hasn't brought home mountains of homework because he was to busy living in Nathanland in class to get anything done. He's more foc...

HOT

I am hot. No, not like that. Like burning up. Rule #1 if this darn house-selling business ever wraps up: The new house WILL have A/C. I was so mean yesterday, and it's all because I feel so lousy. Nate had a friend over today. He didn't want to tell me he was getting a migraine from too much heat/dehydration, because he didn't want his friend sent home, so he let it get really bad. He finally told me about 3 minutes before barfing all over the bottom 5 stairs. Because (say it with me!) Barf is what we do at our house! So I thought I'd give an update as I sit here trying not to die. 1-Trip to Yellowstone We went to Yellowstone with Andrew's family last month. We got to stay for a whole week. The weather was dreamy (65-72, occasional afternoon thundershowers). We got to see the park 4 days, and we did Beauty and the Beast at Playmill. It was Em's first play, and the first time at Playmill for both of them. We swam every day at the condo. It was a great trip. ...

Candid Thoughts: Mom's Day

I've held it in all day. Only my mom has heard my snark, and that's been because she's been feeding it to me too. But we're here in my safe place. If you don't like my opinions, go read another blog. I. Hate. Mothers Day. I come by it honestly, learned it from my mom. I've heard a lot of chatter. "It's my favorite holiday" "I feel so special on Mothers Day" "My wife is an amazing mother to our 6 kids" "My kids are perfect, and it's all because of my wife" And I hate it. It's just another day. Mom still has to cook and clean. The kids still fight, and beg for the chocolate you got at church. You build up this hype inside, thinking it's going to be a special day. People will be extra nice. You think maybe you'll have one less meal to cook, or a few less dishes to do. But somehow you end up with more. Your kids love and appreciate you EVERY day. Your husband appreciates you every day. If they are...

Mooosic

While I am sitting around waiting for word on whether or not I should start packing (and it's looking good, the family that REALLY wants our house had a rough go, discovered some identity theft, but that should be clear as of today, then they have to wait 10 days before they can reapply for the loan) I want to blog - but I am having a hard time deciding what to say. Life seems to be in such a limbo. I have been trying to clean weird things, like kitchen blinds, the dishwasher, window tracks. I've been sick, that keeps you busy, you know? I've gotten semi-addicted to a few new shows. I'm getting ready for the semi-annual choir concert (right after being sick - ACK!). I've been helping Heather move into her new house (well, up until the sick thing). I've been trying to figure out where we'll go if the house suddenly sells. (because it could be really slow, or in about 2 weeks things could start moving REALLY fast). And we've been listening to a LOT of musi...
