Be sure to read the post below, it's far more interesting than this. As mentioned below, I have some monies burning a hole in my pocket. It's my monies, for me to spend on me, whatever I want. But that's a lot of pressure for someone indecisive. I'd like your thoughts, so here are my options: 1) Books. Like 14 of them, of all sorts. Fiction, writing, sewing, gardening...A lot of books. Yay!!!! 2) Bike - I sold my mountain bike last summer, with plans to buy a cruiser. A pretty one! 3) Clothes, like a whole wardrobe. I have never done this, but if I combine the right deals I could get about 4 pants/capris, 2 skirts, and 6-8 mix and match tops, all new and not on clearance...and I wear the same tops all year round, I am not a long-sleeve person...But there is the highly unlikely chance that I'd get pregnant, or lose weight, and clothes would get packed away. Andrew sees the least value in this plan. 4) Wood and supplies to build loft beds, closet organizers, desk...

Don't Look at the Date...

Shhh, don't tell how bad I am doing at blogging!!! I have a list of things to blog about, like how my sewing business is going, how just days after my big update post I quit at David's Bridal. About Andrew's New new job, (the one he just got at the hospital in town!!), about his new calling, or my new extra calling. About how we almost bought a trailer, but didn't. About how I have some monies burning a hole in my pocket, and I can't decide what to do with it (Hmm, I may come back to that today...) About my goals for the year. About my hormones...well, maybe you DON'T want to hear about that...About Em's swim lessons, and Nate's karate, and Andrew's Karate, and choir, and.... I'm not here to blog about any of that. 'Cause I have a cold. And a fozzy brain. And I don't want to think that hard. Instead we'll play a game. Today I was wandering around friends blogs and discovered that I haven't read them very carefully lately (proba...

My Scheduling Conundrum

co·nun·drum    /kəˈnÉ™ndrÉ™m/ Noun A confusing and difficult problem or question. A question asked for amusement, typically one with a pun in its answer; a riddle. Synonyms riddle - puzzle - enigma - mystery I've said it before, I've puzzled over it before. Our family schedule is different that ANYONE else's. Or NEARLY anyone else's. Andrew works 6pm to 6am, normally arriving at home around 7am. Because they are 12 hour shifts, he only works 3 nights a week. Every week he works different nights. Sometimes it's Tues/Wed/Thurs, sometimes it's Sun/Wed/Thurs. You name it, it could be anything, and just when I think there is a pattern, it changes.  Sometimes after working a night shift, he is able to bounce back to a regular schedule of sleep, sometimes it takes 3 days to get back on track. Sometimes he just settles for a stay-up-till-3am-sleep-till-nearly-noon plan. But it's never the same, or predictable.  Because he works 3 nig...

Marriage

In honor of our tenth anniversary this week: Just read this article... I think I disagree with most of it. If the only thing your children see in your marriage is gushy sweet stuff, they'll have no idea what a real marriage is. Real marriage is about disagreeing AND working it out. It's fighting AND forgiving. if all they see is the good they'll be awfully sad and confused when they get married. They'll feel like failures, and like their marriage is doomed because they'll have NO idea that their parents fought and made up, disagreed and accepted, and compromised. I'm not condoning screaming matches in front of the kids, but let them see you frustrated, let them see you work it out. They'll learn how to apologize, they'll learn about healthy relationships. But that's just my two bits. I also believe that the worst marriage advice ever given is to "never go to bed mad". But that's a story for another day.

Year-End, Year-Begin

Garsh. I don't really know where to begin. You know that this is going to be a killer long post, right? My computer (laptop) has been unusable due to power cord issues. It's old, for a laptop. Like 5 years old. (At the beginning of paragraph 2 of this post, I've already lost power twice, and had to wait for it to restart. By the beginning of paragraph 4 I got sick of it and went and found Andrew's computer.) The laptop downstairs that serves as our "family desktop" is over 6 years old, and the sound card is nearly dead, and the whole thing runs like molasses in January. In a particularly cold year. Andrew was unemployed, and that left us super busy with important things like eating copious amounts of ice cream while watching Man Vs Wild. He was completely unemployed, and we were feeling pretty hopeless until Halloween. He got offered an on-call job at Good Samaritan, a skilled nursing facility (nursing home) that he had worked at before going to Pocatello. H...

A Friendly Competition

I've decided to take my turn to post something. It is now the time of the year where the kids get to dress up and collect massive amounts of sugary temptations that will be more than enough to allow them bounce off the wall and get cavities. We have been trying to encourage them to decide on what they want to dress up as for about 6 weeks now, so that we would have enough time to put together their costumes. Of course, they didn't finally decide until today.  Maren immediately gave me the "I hate Halloween for this exact reason" look. I volunteered to help with the  costume making. To which Maren said, "Thats good, because there is NO way that I would be able to make   Nathan and Emme's costumes all by myself." We spent the morning brainstorming how to make the costumes. Maren then teamed up with her sister to collect needed items, and Nathan and I went out to do some of the same.  Once we got home and Janna and her kids left, we started havin...
