Candid Thoughts: Mom's Day

I've held it in all day. Only my mom has heard my snark, and that's been because she's been feeding it to me too. But we're here in my safe place. If you don't like my opinions, go read another blog. I. Hate. Mothers Day. I come by it honestly, learned it from my mom. I've heard a lot of chatter. "It's my favorite holiday" "I feel so special on Mothers Day" "My wife is an amazing mother to our 6 kids" "My kids are perfect, and it's all because of my wife" And I hate it. It's just another day. Mom still has to cook and clean. The kids still fight, and beg for the chocolate you got at church. You build up this hype inside, thinking it's going to be a special day. People will be extra nice. You think maybe you'll have one less meal to cook, or a few less dishes to do. But somehow you end up with more. Your kids love and appreciate you EVERY day. Your husband appreciates you every day. If they are...

Mooosic

While I am sitting around waiting for word on whether or not I should start packing (and it's looking good, the family that REALLY wants our house had a rough go, discovered some identity theft, but that should be clear as of today, then they have to wait 10 days before they can reapply for the loan) I want to blog - but I am having a hard time deciding what to say. Life seems to be in such a limbo. I have been trying to clean weird things, like kitchen blinds, the dishwasher, window tracks. I've been sick, that keeps you busy, you know? I've gotten semi-addicted to a few new shows. I'm getting ready for the semi-annual choir concert (right after being sick - ACK!). I've been helping Heather move into her new house (well, up until the sick thing). I've been trying to figure out where we'll go if the house suddenly sells. (because it could be really slow, or in about 2 weeks things could start moving REALLY fast). And we've been listening to a LOT of musi...

House Updates

Yeah, I've been absent from blogging. I'm tired! This house selling/hunting stuff is hard work. We've had about 7 families come see the house in the last few weeks, and about 7 more ask for more pictures and info. At this point I know at least 1 family is desperately in love with our house, and working really hard at their financing. Several others have said they were working on it, but that's been about 2 weeks. I also have about 2 more showings tentatively scheduled for later in the week. We think we know which house we want to buy, but I'm hesitant to go crazy talking about that, especially since we know the owners. So I'll hold off there for a while. We went to the temple again on Friday, and both feel that we need to not get our panties in a bunch, the ball is rolling, wait for His timing. In the meantime.... I'm spending a lot of time on pinterest! Also - One beautiful niece born, on her due date, with a goofy personality. And now we're circli...

I don't know, what do you want to do? OOoooo, I know, let's move!!!

When we bought our house just over 5 years ago, we bought it knowing that it was nice enough, and big enough, that we COULD stay here forever, but weren't sure we wanted to. I was very pregnant, and the loan didn't go as smoothly as we had hoped, and it was SO exhausting. And the thought of trying to sell a house seemed so scary. So we adopted the idea that this may be the one and only. Fast forward 4 years, Andrew lost his job, and was having a hard time finding a new one, so we started to consider moving out of the area if he could get a new job elsewhere. We had a few Realtors come by, and they all told us our house was worthless, we'd have to short-sale it. So we kind of dropped the idea. We talk now and then about what we'd like in a different house, or "if we ever move", but not seriously. There's one thing we really hate about the house, and that's the neighborhood, specifically this end of the street. I may go into that more later. But it's...

Thoughts, Feelings, Ramblings and Such

It's been quite the week, emotionally. My brain has had enough, it feels so broken, and I think all that will help is some word vomit. I'm just going to spew it all over, and with fatigue, hormones, and Psych on in the background, it's bound to be an adventure! Read on!!!! First. I big fat red heart my Mormon Mom Planner. Oh. My. Gosh. It's grand. And worth the money I would have paid for it if you lovely friends hadn't helped me win it. I will buy it next time, I will!!! It's been so perfect, and I've USED IT!!! Go me. Next. Am I the only person that sits and replays a conversation that I've had, and beats myself up for saying something, and analyzing how it might have sounded, and hashing it all over, and hating myself for sounding lame, or stupid, or forgetting to say something important? AND am I the only person who worries (too much) that I have misread a person's friendliness as friendship? They say hi to me every Sunday, I think that mea...

My Birthday - The Big Three-Oh

I've wanted to record this for a while, but it was a pretty special birthday, and I didn't want to just rattle off a play-by-play without expressing how much everyone's part meant to me. When I woke up the kids were extra good and nice and helpful. Nate didn't have school, because it was Thanksgiving break. Andrew worked the night before so he came home, and went to bed. I had just gotten my new Mormon Mom Planner, and wanted to go show it to Mom, so I asked her if I could some over. She asked me to wait a little while. She and Janna had something for me, and needed a little bit to get it ready. When I got there, on the floor in the family room, there were 31 gift bags. Inside each of 30 bags was one of my favorite things. Cinnamon gum, new jammies, a journal, post it notes, some sheet music for Pitch perfect music... I have the whole list saved elsewhere, but the point is that it was VERY thoughtful. It was more gifts, and more THOUGHTFUL gifts than I have ever recei...
